Case study
Repair management software for heavy industry
A UK technology company that brings order to parts repair in heavy industry and aerospace: repair quotes in digital form, automatic document recognition, claims history and a search for costs the client overpaid. Its customers include aircraft manufacturers.
Context
Repairing parts in aerospace means documents: quotes, protocols, certificates, claims. For years they reached people as PDFs and emails, and overpaid costs vanished into archives. The platform turns that paper into data you can search, compare and use to catch overpayments from years back.
What I built
Starting from the first version of the service, the SDK Global Ltd team I worked on built version two: the same platform with far more features, added in batches with no downtime for a system the customers were working on the whole time.
Repair screens, version two
- The quote, the reports and the certificates for a single repair gathered on one screen.
- Search and comparison on the data from the documents, so similar repairs can be put side by side.
- New features went in while people carried on working in the existing screens, with no break for users.
The client’s name and the technical details stay under a non-disclosure agreement.
Outcome
The customer got a second version of the platform with far more features than the first, and its users did not lose a day of work: the new capabilities appeared in the system they were running repairs on day to day. The person running a repair has the quote, the reports and the certificates on one screen instead of across several files and emails, and puts similar repairs side by side in moments.
